New Eli Kirk website goes live

September 28, 2006 is a day that many of us here at Eli Kirk have been waiting for a long time to see come to pass. Not that we’re really focusing on the date here, just the fact that our website has finally seen the facelift it has been needing for a while.

Some of our clients might wonder what the fuss is all about. “I think your website is great,” is a comment we’ve heard from different customers and interested parties for the past year or so. We simply swallow hard, try not to look embarrassed and say a gracious “Thank you,” in the hopes that they don’t catch on. I mean, what web company wants their own site to look outdated and even a little non-user friendly? Exactly.

So, why is this new site so much better? Because it represents who we are in so many subtle, and some not-so-subtle, ways. The obvious not-so-subtle addition to our site is the large flash portfolio of some of our recent and favorite works. We really want to put our best foot forward, and this does it nicely.

My favorites are the great use of white space (and dark “white” space), the clean edge modern design, user-friendly content and page navigation, and the emphasis on simplicity. Hidden in those elements are the nuances of class, color, font and style that make the new Eli Kirk.com a great new place for us to call home.

The development of the site also holds some great elements. Being the purists that we are, everything validates according to strict XHTML and CSS standards. What is cool about that lies in the increased page load speed, browser compatibility and simple code viewing. My favorite can be discovered if you hold down the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel. Check it out; it’s pretty cool (to get back to normal size just hold Ctrl and hit the #0).

So you’ve just heard what I/we have to say about our new site. We’d love to know what you think. Post your comments to this article and tell us your thoughts. We’re all about customer satisfaction and quality relationships here. Your insights will be given due consideration. Until next time, this is your Captain, signing off.
